ORF to WebP: common questions

Are my ORF files uploaded anywhere?
Yes — this conversion needs software that cannot run in a browser, so the file is uploaded over an encrypted connection. It is deleted as soon as the job finishes, and the result is removed after 60 minutes.
Is converting ORF to WebP free?
The free plan covers three server conversions a day, for files up to 25 MB. There is no watermark on the result.
Does converting ORF to WebP lose quality?
WebP is a compressed format, so some data is discarded. At the default setting the difference is not visible; you can raise the quality setting if you need to be certain. Raw files hold more tonal range than the target format. Highlights and shadows are mapped using the camera profile.
Do I need to install anything to open WebP files?
No. The conversion runs on our side and gives you a finished WebP file; opening it needs whatever software normally handles WebP Image.
